New iPhone app for Houston METRO

by Susan on February 9, 2010

Ride Houston lets iPhone users locate the closest bus and rail stops for the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (TX).  The application does not provide real-time updates, but users can link seamlessly to Google Transit for detailed directions to their destination.  Developer Brian Leonard also designed To A T, which provides a similar service for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, and is currently making his way through Texas one app at a time. In addition to Ride Houston, he completed Ride Dallas and is working on Ride Austin. Downloads are available from the iTunes App Store.  Link to full story in Write On METRO.

Good to see more agencies providing these services to their customers. You may be interested in a paper on our blog about the transit data debate and how agencies can provide this information to their passengers.
