Las Vegas maglev backers promise jobs

Supporters of the proposed magnetic levitation rail line between Las Vegas (NV) and Anaheim (CA), sought support from local contractors, saying that the project could bring 90,000 jobs to the area. Still seeking federal funds, the maglev project is competing with the privately funded Desert Xpress to serve the Las Vegas – California market. “It’s not just the short-term job growth,” said one contractor. “If you can open up the market to millions more people, it would be a big boost to the whole area.” Link to full story in the Las Vegas Sun.
