The Chicago Transit Authority (IL) completed installing security cameras at 24 Green Line stations, bring the total for the rail system to 1,657 cameras at 73 rail stations. The cameras feed real-time video to CTA’s Control Center, the Chicago Police Department, and the Office of Emergency Management and Communication. “The cameras are such an assistance,” said police superintendent Jody Weis. “It’s going to make a huge difference.” According to the Chicago Sun-Times, robberies on the CTA increased 77% between 2006 and 2008.
