Researchers at McMaster University‘s RFID Applications Lab (ON) are collaborating with Bombardier Transportation  and Ontario Centres of Excellence to develop develop location awareness technology that notifies subway vehicles of the exact location of trackside workers. “This technology will be the first solution of this type in the world,” said McMaster’s Pankaj Sood. “We will be looking at how to create an entire automated communications ecosystem using technologies such as RFID systems, sensors, networks, data processing, user interfaces and new antenna technologies.” Link to full press release.
