Innovative substation combines art and technology

TriMet‘s new light-rail substation may look like a giant sculpture, but it will incorporate solar panels and wind turbines. Together, these alternative energy sources are expected to generate 75-90% of the power needed to operate the site. “Wind energy in an urban environment is such an untapped field,” said TriMet architect Bob Hastings.
