Akron bus barn goes solar

Akron’s Metro Regional Transit Authority (OH) is installing a solar array on the roof of its main bus barn.  Funded in part by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the project is expected to reduce Metro’s energy consumption by about 25%, for a savings of up to $6,000 a month. In addition, recently passed legislation will allow Metro to make more than $100,000 per year by selling renewable-energy credits.  Link to full story in The Akron Beacon Journal.
