The New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Metro-North Railroad launched Train Time, which provides real-time train status and schedule information via computer and web-enabled smart phone. The system lets commuters know whether a train is on-time, late, cancelled, or delayed (including the number of minutes the train is late). MTA developed the application in-house; 67 stations are already online and more will be added this spring. Link to MTA press release.
