Victoria’s Transport Ticketing Authority (Australia) will share myki smartcard data with police to support criminal investigations, according to the Sunday Herald Sun. Some elected officials say this decision violates privacy laws (and the newspaper claims that jealous lovers will be able to spy on their partners), but myki spokeswoman Jean Ker Walsh said the system is secure: “If customers choose to register their myki, minimum contact details are required and these are stored securely in the back office.” Link to full story in the Sunday Herald Sun.
