MBTA to introduce real-time commuter rail info, expand WiFi

January 7, 2010

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority is introducing real-time arrival information throughout its commuter rail system. Electronic countdown signs will be in place on all 13 rail lines next month. A system will also be introduced for commuter rail customers to access the countdown information by radio, enabling passengers to stay in their cars until the train is approaching. Finally, the MBTA also plans to expand WiFi service to all 410 commuter rail coaches by the end of the summer. Link to MBTA press release.
