The State of Connecticut is funding engineering work for a positive train control system for Metro-North Railroad‘s New Haven commuter rail line within the state. “This is another sign of our significant commitment for enhancing rail travel in Connecticut,” said Governor Jodi Rell. “We are doing all we can to encourage people to get out of their cars and aboard Connecticut’s commuter trains, so it is logical to make improvements like these that add to the protections we already have in place.” PTCs are automated safety back-up systems that can change a train’s speed if necessary.
