Lee County Transit, in Fort Myers (FL), introduced its first hybrid bus earlier this month. The gasoline electric hybrid technology, the first in the state, is expected to provide higher fuel efficiency and emit less nitrogen oxide than similar diesel hybrids. “Transit agencies in California report that this technology provides a smooth, quiet ride and reduced maintenance costs due to increased brake life,” said LeeTran transit director Steve Myers.
