San Francisco (CA) Bay Area Rapid Transit awarded a contract to design and build a 3.2-mile automated people mover between BART’s Coliseum Station and the Oakland Airport. The $492 million project, which includes $70 million in federal stimulus funds, will operate every 4.5 minutes with an expected travel time of 8 minutes and 12 seconds. The Flatiron/Parsons Joint Venture will design and build the project and Doppelmayr Cable Car, Inc., will operate and maintain the connector. Link to full BART press release.
