The University of South Carolina announced Genesis 2015, an ambitious plan to power all campus vehicles with alternative fuels. Within five years, all vehicles in the campus fleet will run on ethanol, biodiesel, liquefied petroleum gas, electricity or hydrogen fuel cells. The university shuttle service will introduce a hydrogen hybrid bus next month. “We have 156 vehicles that we can convert to alternative fuel right away,” said Derrick Huggins, associate vice president for transportation.
