Twin Cities researchers demonstrate next-generation buses

Researchers at the University of Minnesota Center for Transportation Studies demonstrated a driver-assistive program for buses operating in bus lanes and bus-only road shoulders. The system uses GPS and radar to monitor the bus location and keep track of surrounding vehicles. The Minnesota Valley Transit Authority will test a fleet of 10 buses with the new system next year.
