New York City’s transit riders may soon be able to dial 311 for transit information. The city’s information line already receives about 370,000 transit-related calls a year. Instead of transferring them to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which is the current practice, the city may start fielding those calls in-house. “We think it would significantly cut down on confusion and improve customer service,” said Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
