Drivers will be able to pay for parking with contactless credit cards at about 20 parking meters in London’s West End next year. Use of smart cards for small payments is increasing throughout the UK, and the Department for Transport is looking into options for using smart cards for bus and train travel. “This parking trial is a positive step in the direction of seamless travel,” said a department spokesman.
