The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority is ready to test its new crash-avoidance software. The software, designed in response to Metrorail’s fatal crash last June, will provide a real-time check for malfunctions in the track circuitry. “We’re at a point now where we want to test this to see if it will give us information in real time about any anomalies that may be out there on the track circuit,” said Metro deputy general manager Gerald Francis.
