MTA softens its approach to developers

The New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority appears to be moving toward a  more open policy on sharing data with outside developers.

Even as transit systems across the country embraced the ethos of open source, freely distributing data to Web developers, the agency in New York was taking a more cautious — and occasionally combative — approach to the mobile revolution.

But the MTA’s hard line seems to be softening, according to The New York Times.  “It’s clearly an emerging area, and we’re going to keep trying to evolve to keep up with it,” said MTA spokesman Jeremy Soffin. Link to full story in New York Times.
