Despite an announcement last week from Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons, funds for a proposed magnetic levitation train between Las Vegas (NV) and Anaheim (CA) are not immediately forthcoming. In a letter to the governor, U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood wrote: “It has come to my attention that you were recently quoted in the media as saying that Nevada expected to receive funds this week…If such a statement was made, it is not accurate.” Saying that the Federal Railroad Administration would continue to review the project, LaHood said that he “cannot commit to a date certain” for taking action.
