Mapping the great indoors

While plenty of organizations have developed maps that display the great outdoors, one company is turning inward. Micello’s goal is to map large public spaces in the U.S., including universities, shopping malls, and airports. Network World interviewed Micello founder and CEO Ankit Agarwal, who describes the company’s process:

We get the floor plan of a particular place, whether it’s from someone going and taking a picture of it or the building itself gives it to us. We then convert the floor plan to a geo-coded, dynamic, personalizable interactive map, so that when you go to a shopping mall, the floor plan on the Micello map will interact with you.

Micello is starting with colleges and shopping malls in the San Francisco (CA) Bay Area. Link to full story in Network World.
