San Francisco (CA) International Airport is testing paperless boarding passes. Passengers on Continental Airlines may choose to receive their SFO boarding passes electronically on an Internet-enabled mobile device. Participating passengers receive an email, which includes a bar code that security agents can scan at the airport. “It’s probably going to be the wave of the future,” said SFO spokesman Michael McCarron. “It’s the next thing in airline technology.” About 100 passengers a day are using cell-phone check-in at SFO. Airlines pay for the scanning technology, which costs about $2,000 per kiosk. Link to full story in San Francisco Chronicle.
