The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada broke ground on a new transit center in downtown Las Vegas. Funded in part with federal stimulus funds, the Bonneville Transit Center is designed to be as green as possible. The facility will incorporate solar panels, water-efficient landscaping, and preferred parking for hybrid vehicles. In addition, the transit center will be bicycle-friendly, with parking, showers, and an on-site repair shop. “This facility certainly is helping us reinvent transit in Southern Nevada to get those people out of their cars — and we certainly love our cars in Southern Nevada,” said Clark County Commissioner and RTC Chairman Larry Brown.
