Twitter to make geolocation data available

Last week, Twitter announced plans to add a geographic dimension to its services.  Users will be able to tag their messages with geographic information and developers will be able to incorporate location data into new applications. From Network World: “The news has thrown many developers into an intense brainstorming mode, thinking up ways to enhance existing applications and build new ones that use this location data.” At the same time, developers talked about the importance of providing an opt-in feature that allows Twitter members to decide whether to share their location data — and with whom.
