MTA battles with app developer

The New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority has asked a Connecticut-based blogger to stop selling an iPhone application that offers bus and train schedules.  The MTA wants to collect past and future licensing fees from profits that Chris Schoenfeld earns from StationStops, arguing that a licensing agreement will help ensure that the application distributes accurate information.  MTA spokesman Kevin Ortiz said, “If people have problems with his information, they won’t be calling him. They’ll be calling us.” Schoenfeld is taking his fight with the MTA public in an effort to stop the agency from “squashing small business and the rights of everyday people.” Link to full story in The Advocate.
