Car-sharing comes to University of Arizona

The University of Arizona has partnered with Hertz to bring a car-sharing program to its Tucson campus. Members of the university community, including Tucson residents, can register for the program online. After passing a background check they will receive a contactless card that can be used to unlock the cars. The all-inclusive cost is $8-$10 per hour; customers get a free hour if they take the vehicle to a carwash.  Ten cars will be available on campus, including Toyota Prius hybrids, Toyota Camrys and BMW Mini Coopers.  UA officials expect the program to pay for itself, and any profits will support bus pass subsidies, bicycle racks and improvements to bicycle paths.
