The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority introduced its first hybrid electric-diesel bus on Monday. The bus, which is the first in the state of Iowa, will have a video surveillance system, bicycle rack, and seat upholstery made from recycled plastic bottles. ”This bus represents the sustainability of public transportation, as this is another way that DART is at the forefront of environmental consciousness,” said DART General Manager Brad Miller. Rides on the new bus will be free for the month of August. Link to full story in The Des Moines Register.
