Metro discovers problems in additional track circuits

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority has found additional “anomalies” in the track circuits designed to prevent collisions on its Metrorail system. According to The Washington Post, at least six circuits on four of Metro’s five rail lines recently failed to detect the presence of trains on the track. The story continues: ”In a statement Tuesday night after The Washington Post article appeared online, Metro said that “the rail system is safe” and that it is a “gross exaggeration” to suggest that the problem is widespread.” Link to full story in The Washington Post.
