Coalition formed to promote open-source software

More than 50 companies, academic institutions, communities and individuals formed Open Source for America, a coalition to promote federal adoption of open-source software.  “The sole purpose of this organization is to answer the president’s call for technologies that help government be more participatory, more collaborative and more transparent,” said John Scott, OSA steering committee member and director of open-source software and integration at Mercury Federal Systems, Inc.  Coalition membership is open to any individual or organization that is committed to the campaign’s mission.
