MBTA tests collision-avoidance system for trolleys

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority is testing a collision-avoidance system for its light-rail system. The system alerts drivers if they are approaching another train and applies the brakes if the driver does not stop. Testing will take place on the two-mile Mattapan Line; the system will be implemented throughout the Green Line system if successful.
