Metro: NextBus? Next week.

by Susan on June 23, 2009

Starting July 1, MetroBus commuters will know where their bus is. The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (DC) is relaunching NextBus at 12,000 bus stops.  Bus arrival information will be available by phone or online for the system’s 355 routes; electronic signs will post the information at high-volume bus terminals like Pentagon, Anacostia, and Friendship Heights.  “This is a really big deal,” said Metro board member Chris Zimmerman. “Time management is one of the key facts of our lives, and in the Washington area, the transportation schedule is one of the biggest challenges for most people.”  A previous pilot test was suspended because of problems with accuracy.
