New York City Transit is making it easier for passengers to get off the bus. New buses will be equipped with overhead sensors that automatically open the rear door for passengers after the vehicle stops. From the New York Daily News: “The technology will make it easier, and quicker, for senior citizens, riders carrying packages, passengers with small children to get off at their stops, and everyone else, said Joseph Smith, vice president in charge of buses.” All new buses will come with this feature; the first vehicles will arrive in January.
