The Capital District Transportation Authority in Albany (NY) added 21 electric-diesel hybrid buses to its fleet. The hybrids achieve about five miles per gallon, about 30% better than conventional buses. The increased efficiency is expected to help CDTA save about 1 million gallons of diesel fuel over the 12-year life span of a hybrid.
