Tampa Bay lets residents comment on transit plan by phone

by Susan on May 4, 2009

Planners at the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority (FL) have found a new way to reach out to the community. To solicit comments on a new regional plan, TBARTA is conducting a series of iTown Hall meetings by telephone.

Here’s how it works: For each meeting, TBARTA calls 40,000 residents randomly selected from the agency’s seven-county service area and asks them to join a live telephone meeting.  Residents who were not contacted by phone can also participate by calling a toll-free number.  TBARTA staff and board members host each virtual town hall. Comments from the telephone meetings will be combined with those collected at a traditional live meeting scheduled later this month. Link to full story in St. Petersburg Times.
