Metra passengers will be able to use credit cards to purchase tickets and monthly passes starting in February 2010. Bowing to pressure from consumers and legislators, the Chicago (IL)-area commuter rail system, will allow customers to make credit or debit transactions at staffed stations and on the agency’s website. Other planned improvements include installing ticket vending machines at unstaffed stations, issuing service alerts to cell phones, allowing passengers to print tickets on their own computers, and updating the agency’s website.
