New York City adds new features to GIS application

The City of New York (NY) has updated its online GIS tool with new data layers and mapping features.  NYCityMap2.0 offers information about city services, building and property ownership, neighborhood health profiles and the location of schools and transportation hubs.  New layers in the updated version include commuter rail lines and stations. Users can now access their search history, measure distance, and save and export their maps.   The Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications built the site using free open source software.  Link to full story in Government Technology.
