Introducing a credit card on a phone

Visa has launched the first commercial mobile payment system using near field communications technology.  Currently available only in Malaysia, the system includes an application that allows customers to use their cell phones to pay for transit fares, highway tolls, and parking facilities. Visa has partnered with wireless carrier Maxis, handset manufacturer Nokia, and Maybank on this venture.  Link to full story in The New York TimesLink to press release on MarketWatch.
