A group representing taxi drivers and medallion owners is suing the City of Boston (MA) over a requirement to turn the fleet green. As part of a fare increase implemented last August, the city required an all-hybrid fleet by 2015. Currently, about 10% of the 1,825 taxis in the city are hybrids. Andrew Hebert, who publishes a magazine for the Boston taxi industry, said, “The owners are essentially saying, ‘Look, we’re not against going green, we’re against going broke.’” Link to full story in The Boston Globe.
