Oregon Metro launches online planning tool

Metro, the regional government in the greater Portland (OR) area, has launched an online build-a-system planning tool to help residents compare options for a high-capacity rail system.  Users start with a map that displays the 15 rail corridors under consideration and a budget of $2.7 million.  They can select rail segments until they run out of money, balancing the trade-offs among ridership, costs, and environmental benefits.  After designing the rail network, the virtual planners are asked to complete a brief survey about the corridors they selected.   Link to full story in Daily Journal of Commerce.
