USDOT announces Recovery Act funding for greenhouse gas and energy reduction

by Susan on March 26, 2009

Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood announced the availability of $100 million in federal funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for the Transit Investments for Greenhouse Gas and Energy Reduction grant program. Projects will compete for a portion of the funds on the basis of how much their proposed capital investment is expected to reduce either energy consumption or greenhouse gases, or both. Transit agencies may apply directly for the funds, or public agencies man submit consolidated project proposals on behalf of transit agencies. Grants will be made directly to the transit agencies. Link to FTA press release.
