NASA working to power electric bus with hydrogen from Lake Erie

The NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio, is part of a consortium working to develop a bus powered by a fuel cell that uses hydrogen drawn from lake water.  The NASA group, which includes 12 partners, has applied for a  $2.6 million grant from the Ohio Third Frontier Wright Projects program.  The group proposes to use electricity produced by a wind turbine and solar panels to break water into hydrogen and oxygen. The emission-free bus would be on loan to the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority for two years. Link to full story in The Plain Dealer.
