Southern California’s Metrolink commuter rail has implemented nearly a third of the safety recommendations made by a panel following a collision last September in Chatsworth (CA) that killed 25 people. Among other actions, Metrolink will install an automatic train stop system as an interim measure until funding is secured for positive train controls. The latter is a satellite-linked system that will automatically stop trains that run red lights. Link to full story in Contra Costa Times.
